BOISE, Idaho – With Saturday's results, Boise State earned the right to host the 2024 Old Trapper Mountain West Football Championship, which will be held on Friday, Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. at Albertsons Stadium.
The No. 12 Broncos, who beat Wyoming 17-13 on Saturday to finish as the only Mountain West team with an undefeated conference record during the regular season, will face either No. 24 UNLV or Colorado State in the championship game. Boise State sealed the right to host this year's title game when Colorado State lost 28-22 at Fresno State on Saturday.
The Rams and the Rebels will enter Week 14 tied in the MW standings with 5-1 records. Colorado State hosts Utah State on Friday and UNLV takes on Nevada in Las Vegas on Saturday.
Should the teams both win or lose, the tie would be broken by either CFP rankings or results-based computer metrics, as Colorado State and UNLV did not meet in the regular season.
Boise State will be making its third-straight appearance in the Mountain West Championship and eighth appearance overall in the game's 12-year existence. It has hosted the championship game six times, with this year being the first time since 2022.
The Broncos won the MW Championship last year by beating UNLV in Las Vegas. They have won five MW titles since joining the conference in 2011 but have never won back-to-back championships.
Tickets for the 2024 Old Trapper Mountain West Championship will go on sale this week, with a presale for BAA members starting on Monday, Nov. 25 at 1 p.m. MT. The public on-sale date for remaining tickets will start on Tuesday, Nov. 26.
