
Broncos in the NFL: Week 16

BOISE, Idaho – A dozen former Broncos will represent Boise State in Week 16 of the NFL season. Postseason inclusion is on the line for multiple teams. The Denver Broncos (JL Skinner), Los Angeles Chargers (Scott Matlock) and Washington Commanders (John Bates, Jeremy McNichols) can clinch a playoff spot this week. The Buffalo Bills (Khalil Shakir) and Minnesota Vikings (Brett Rypien) have already clinched a spot in the NFL Playoffs.
THURSDAY
Los Angeles Chargers (Scott Matlock) vs. Denver Broncos (JL Skinner) – Prime Video, 6:15 p.m.
Last Week: Matlock played in all three phases, totaling 47 snaps in the Chargers' 40-17 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Boise State product played a season-high 22 defensive snaps while recording a career-best 69.4 Pro Football Focus run blocking grade. Skinner played a team-high 24 special teams snaps in Denver's 31-13 win over the Indianapolis Colts. He had multiple key blocks on a 61-yard punt return in the fourth quarter, which set up the Broncos' go-ahead touchdown.
SUNDAY
Washington Commanders (John Bates, Jeremy McNichols) vs. Philadelphia Eagles – FOX, 11 a.m.
Last Week: Bates started at tight end and had a 6-yard reception while recording a tackle on punt coverage. McNichols had a career-long 29-yard kick return and added four rushing yards. He also recovered a Washington fumble in the red zone, keeping the ball with the Commanders to set up a touchdown in the 20-19 win over the New Orleans Saints.
Atlanta Falcons (Avery Williams) vs. New York Giants – FOX, 11 a.m.
Last Week: Williams totaled 78 yards on three returns in Atlanta's 15-9 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. This included a 38-yard kick return, matching his career-long. The win put the Falcons one game behind the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for first place in the NFC South.
Tennessee Titans (John Ojukwu) at Indianapolis Colts – CBS, 11 a.m.
Last Week: Ojukwu played 13 offensive snaps for the Titans in their 37-27 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. His PFF overall grade of 75.5 was his second-highest of the season.
Seattle Seahawks (George Holani) vs. Minnesota Vikings (Brett Rypien) – FOX, 2:05 p.m.
Last Week: Holani was added to the active roster and played in his third game of the season, tallying his first NFL rushes. He gained 10 yards on three carries, totaling seven yards after contact and recording a first down. Rypien was inactive in Minnesota's 30-12 win over the Chicago Bears. The dominant victory clinched a playoff spot for the Vikings, who are tied with the Detroit Lions for first in the NFC North at 12-2.
Buffalo Bills (Khalil Shakir) vs. New England Patriots – CBS, 2:25 p.m.
Last Week: Shakir caught a team-high six passes in Buffalo's 48-42 win over the Detroit Lions, tallying 39 yards and one touchdown. The former Boise State captain ranks second among NFL wide receivers with 573 yards after catch this season.
Las Vegas Raiders (Alexander Mattison) vs. Jacksonville Jaguars (Ezra Cleveland) – CBS, 2:25 p.m.
Last Week: Mattison totaled 24 yards from scrimmage on nine touches in Las Vegas' 15-9 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. Cleveland played a season-high 89 snaps in Jacksonville's 32-25 loss to the New York Jets. This included all 84 offensive snaps, paving the way for 421 total yards, the Jaguars' second-highest mark of the season.
MONDAY
New Orleans Saints (Cedrick Wilson Jr.) at Green Bay Packers – ABC/ESPN, 6:15 p.m.
Last Week: Wilson Jr. started at wide receiver and threw a 21-yard touchdown pass to Alvin Kamara on a trick play, his first pass attempt of the season. In his career, the Boise State product has completed 6-of-6 passes for 132 yards and two touchdowns. The Saints fell to the Washington Commanders, 20-19.
BOISE STATE RETURNS TO FIESTA BOWL
Boise State earned the No. 3 seed and a berth in the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl during the first expanded College Football Playoff. The Broncos will face the winner of Penn State vs. SMU on Dec. 31.
