Maxwell Award winner and Heisman runner-up named first team by all five official selectors
BOISE, Idaho – Ashton Jeanty was recognized as a 2024 unanimous All-American by the NCAA, becoming the first player in Boise State history to earn this honor. To be a unanimous All-American, a player must be included on the All-America first team by the NCAA-designated selectors. This year, the official selectors are the Associated Press (AP), the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA), Sporting News, and the Walter Camp Football Foundation (WCFF).
Players who were named first team All-American by at least half the selectors are recognized as consensus All-Americans. Jeanty is the fourth Bronco to be tabbed a consensus All-American, joining offensive linemen Ryan Clady (2007) and Nate Potter (2011) and return specialist Avery Williams (2020).
Jeanty has rushed for 2,497 yards, which ranks fourth in FBS single-season history and is more than 115 FBS teams this season. He has 29 rushing touchdowns, tying for first in the country and equaling or besting the total of 118 teams. The tailback also leads the nation in all-purpose yards (2,613), first downs (121) and points (180).
A native of Jacksonville, Florida, Jeanty holds the College Football Playoff-era single-season records for yards after contact (1,889) and forced missed tackles (143). He has an FBS-high 266 attempts against a 7+ man box, totaling 1,829 yards and 25 touchdowns in those carries. His Pro Football Focus rushing grade is 97.5, also a CFP-era record.
Jeanty has been consistent in both halves and finishes games better than anyone in the country. In first halves, he averages 104.9 yards and has scored 15 touchdowns. In second halves, he averages 103.0 yards and has reached the end zone 14 times. The team captain leads the country in virtually every fourth quarter rushing category, including attempts (86), yards (679), touchdowns (9) and first downs (29).
The junior has flashed his big-play potential all season, matching LaDanian Tomlinson (TCU, 1999) for the most 70+ yard touchdown rushes (5) in a season since 1996. He has more 20+ yard rushes (24) than rushes for loss (23) and has more 50+ yard gains (12) and 60+ yard gains (10) than any team in the nation.
The Lone Star HS product holds the Boise State single-game records for rushing yards (267) and touchdowns (6). He also tops the school's career leaderboard in rushing yards (4,665), 200-yard games (8) and 100-yard games (21). Jeanty is the recipient of the Doak Walker Award and Maxwell Award and finished second in Heisman Trophy voting. He is the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year and a unanimous first team All-MW selection.
