
Boise State Earns Fiesta Bowl Berth, No. 3 Seed in College Football Playoff

Broncos to play winner of Penn State vs. SMU on Dec. 31
BOISE, Idaho – A historic season for Boise State football will continue in the first edition of the expanded College Football Playoff. The Broncos were ranked No. 9, the third-highest conference champion. As the No. 3 seed, Boise State earned a first round bye and will play in the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl on Dec. 31 against the winner of Penn State vs. SMU.
The Broncos secured a spot in the playoff with a 21-7 win over No. 20 UNLV in the 2024 Old Trapper Mountain West Championship. HEI2MAN candidate Ashton Jeanty was the Offensive MVP, running for 209 yards and one touchdown. The MW Offensive Player of the Year has 2,497 rushing yards this season, the fourth-highest single-season total in FBS history. All-MW safety Seyi Oladipo was the Defensive MVP, finishing the contest with 10 tackles, 2.0 TFLs, one sack and a forced fumble. The Broncos had six sacks, pushing their season total to 51, second-most in the nation.
