BOISE, Idaho - Marlayna Bullington and Sierra Land were named the Ford Boise State Student-Athletes of the Week.
The pair, who was also named the Southland Conference Pair of the Week on Tuesday, earned the recognition after a 4-0 performance on the top court at the Pepperdine Classic. The duo won all four matches in straight-sets, including a 21-19, 21-10 victory over No. 20 Arizona's top pair, Grace Cook and Hope Shannon.Â
The duo opened the weekend with a 22-20, 21-18 win over Kate Clermont and McKenna Thomas of Pepperdine, who received votes in the AVCA Collegiate Beach Poll. The pair ended the weekend with straight-set victories over the top pair from San Francisco (21-15, 21-14) and Vanguard (21-14, 21-15).
Bullington and Land are off to a hot start on the season, holding an 8-2 record on court one. The pair is four wins away from matching the program's record of 12 wins on the top court, set by Erin Martin and Yasmin Tan during the 2022 season. The duo has led the Broncos to a 7-3 record, matching the program record for the best start in school history.Â
Boise State is off to Manoa, Hawaii, for the Queen's Cup, March 7-9. The Broncos will play four duals on the first two days of competition, followed by bracket play on Saturday.
