Six Broncos Named to NFF Hampshire Honor Society

IRVING, Texas – The National Football Foundation announced its 2024 Hampshire Honor Society, with six Boise State student-athletes earning recognition. Billy Bowens, Michael Callahan, Ben Dooley, DJ Schramm, Riley Smith and Alexander Teubner represented the Broncos on this year's list.
 
Bowens, a Social Sciences major, appeared in all 14 games. He recorded 28 receptions for 383 yards and one touchdown, including a season-high four catches for 91 yards in the Mountain West Championship. This is the second time Bowens has been named to the NFF Hampshire Honor Society. He was also named Academic All-MW for the fourth-straight season.
 
Callahan is a Business major who played all 14 games for the Broncos. He posted 19 tackles, including 2.5 TFLs and a solo sack. He was honored on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team and earned Academic All-MW for the fourth-consecutive year.
 
Dooley, who is majoring in English, started 10 games at left guard for Boise State. He led an offensive line that ranked 13th in the nation in sacks allowed per game (1.14) and 15th in the country in yards per play (6.55). He was an Academic All-MW selection for the fourth time in his career.
 
Schramm, a Mechanical Engineering major, made 10 starts at linebacker for the Blue and Orange. The captain tallied 48 tackles and 4.0 TFLs, including 2.5 TFLs against Utah State. This is his second-straight season earning NFF Hampshire Honor Society recognition. He was also named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District and Academic All-MW.
 
Smith obtained his degree in Construction Management and played in 11 games for the Broncos. He caught 11 passes for 113 yards, including a 2-yard touchdown in a comeback win over San Jose State. This is the captain's second-straight NFF Hampshire Honor Society accolade, adding to a collection of awards that includes five Academic All-MW selections and a College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honor.
 
Teubner, a Finance major, appeared in 13 games for Boise State. He had a team-high 85 tackles, including a career-best 14 against Air Force. He was named the MW Championship Defensive MVP after logging 10 tackles, one tackle-for-loss and a forced fumble. He is a two-time Collegiate Sports Communicators Academic All-District selection and four-time Academic All-MW honoree.
 
This is the ninth-straight year the Broncos have had multiple award recipients. The NFF recognized 1,989 student-athletes this season, an organizational record. The players hailed from 339 colleges and universities across the NCAA, NAIA and sprint football.
 
Members of the NFF Hampshire Honor Society must be senior players who will graduate in the spring or summer 2024 and have completed their final year of playing eligibility in 2023, or graduate players who have been enrolled at least three years. A student-athlete must have attained a minimum undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.2 (4.0 scale) and been a starter or significant contributor throughout the 2023 season.
