App State will visit Boise State on Sept. 27, 2025, with the Broncos returning the favor to the Mountaineers at Kidd Brewer Stadium in Boone, North Carolina on Sept. 4, 2027.

SERIES HISTORY
This will not be the first meeting between the two programs, nor will it be App State's first visit to the Gem State. The Mountaineers previously made the trip to Boise 30 years ago for the NCAA Division I-AA Quarterfinals on Dec. 3, 1994, when Boise State claimed a 17-14 win, despite committing seven turnovers in a rain-soaked game.
Then-App State head coach and 2014 inductee into the College Football Hall of Fame Jerry Moore said of the outcome afterwards, "The weather was no factor at all. The only thing that was a factor was Boise State."
Scott Satterfield, current head coach at Cincinnati (who the Broncos are scheduled to host in 2028) and former head coach at Louisville and App State, was the quarterback for the Mountaineers in that game. He threw for 73 yards on 7-for-27 passing with one interception. Tony Hilde was the signal caller for Boise State, throwing for 217 yards and two touchdowns in a 13-for-32 performance with four interceptions. The Broncos would go on to finish as the runners-up that season.
BOISE STATE VS. SUN BELT CONFERENCE
The 2025 season will mark the second consecutive year that Boise State will face a Sun Belt Conference opponent with the Broncos opening the 2024 campaign at Georgia Southern. The Broncos are 13-0 all-time against current Sun Belt members with past meetings against App State (1-0), Arkansas State (2-0), Louisiana (2-0), Marshall (2-0), Southern Miss (4-0) and Troy (2-0).
With the Broncos' trip to Boone in 2027, Boise State will play in the Tar Heel State for the first time in program history.

COMING TO ALBERTSONS STADIUM THIS FALL
Boise State has one of the most appealing home schedules in school history this fall, with home games set against Portland State (Sept. 21), Washington state (Sept. 28), Utah State (Oct. 5), San Diego State (Nov. 2), Nevada (Nov. 9) and Oregon State (Nov. 30).
Led by Spencer Danielson in his first full season, Boise State looks to become the first Mountain West program to win back-to-back championships since San Diego State did so in 2015-16. Achieving such a feat will put Boise State in the discussion for the new, expanded, 12-team College Football Playoff format beginning this fall. Last year, Danielson became the first coach in college football history to win a conference championship with an interim title.
