
Five Broncos Named WGCA All-American Scholars

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Five Boise State women's golfers were named to the 2023-24 WGCA All-American Scholar Team, the organization announced Monday. Leia Chung, Macee Greenwood, Jillian Hui, Teal Matsueda and Franca Polla represented the Broncos on this season's list.
To be selected, a student-athlete must have an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher, be an amateur and on the team's roster through the conclusion of the team's season and have played in 50% of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year nominated through the team's conference championship. There were 1,497 student-athletes from 412 programs selected this season.
Chung is earning Scholar All-America honors for the second-straight year. The sophomore set the program's single-season scoring average record at 72.10, winning Mountain West Golfer of the Week twice. A native of Wahiawa, Hawaii, she has a 4.00 GPA and majors in business.
This is Greenwood's first Scholar All-America honor. The sophomore fired a 72 (E) in the final rounds of the Cowgirl Classic and Bobcat Desert Classic to finish the regular season. A native of Corvallis, Mont., she maintains a 3.84 GPA in communications.
Hui is also earning Scholar All-America honors for the first time. A native of Kennewick, Wash., she finished T-23rd at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic, shooting a 71 (-1) in the final round. The freshman holds a 3.91 GPA as she pursues a degree in accountancy.
Matsueda is a first-time Scholar All-American, adding to a list of accomplishments that includes Mountain West Freshman of the Week and achieving the second-best single-season scoring average in school history (73.55). The freshman hails from Kaimuki, Hawaii, and maintains a 4.00 GPA in business.
Polla, a senior from Portland, Ore., is being recognized for the fourth time in her career. She concluded her career with a scoring average of 75.39, the third-lowest in school history. She graduated with a degree in psychology, holding a 3.74 GPA.
The quintet contributed to a historic 2023-24 season for the Blue and Orange. The Broncos' scoring average of 293.94 set a school record and the team's 3.82 GPA in the spring semester set a program record. Boise State won the Pizza Hut-Lady Thunderbird Invitational and set the program's 54-hole record at The Clash at Boulder Creek.
