Hassanein Earns Spot on Bronko Nagurski Watch List

BOISE, Idaho – The Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) announced the 2024 Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List, which features Boise State senior Ahmed Hassanein. The defensive end is one of 75 players recognized on the list for the trophy, given annually to the nation's most outstanding defensive player.
Hassanein, a 2023 All-Mountain West First Team selection, has a vast collection of preseason awards. The senior shared MW Preseason Defensive Player of the Year honors with UNLV's Jackson Woodard. He was recognized as a preseason All-American by Phil Steele and Athlon Sports and was also added to the East-West Shrine Bowl 1000 Watchlist.
Last season, Hassanein finished second in the MW and sixth in the FBS with 12.5 sacks. He recorded at least 0.5 sacks in nine-straight games, the country's longest streak since 2015. His total of 16.5 TFLs ranked third in the MW and 19th in the NCAA. The native of Cairo, Egypt, also forced two fumbles and logged eight quarterback hurries.
Hassanein is one of four MW players represented on the watch list. The FWAA and the Charlotte Touchdown Club will announce finalists for the 2024 trophy on Nov. 20. The winner will be unveiled Dec. 9 at the Bronko Nagurski Awards Banquet in Charlotte, N.C.

Haven't found a ticket package that suits your needs yet? Fans can now get their single-game tickets for the highly anticipated 2024 season now for as low as $25. While the season ticket packages, flex passes and mini-plans offer the best seats available, single-game tickets are still a great option to get out to see the Broncos on The Blue this fall. Achieving such a feat will put Boise State in the discussion for the new, expanded, 12-team College Football Playoff format beginning this fall.
