Broncos total 47 points, most since 2018

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State continued an annual tradition nearly a quarter-century old as the Broncos received votes in the Associated Press's preseason college football poll for the 23rd straight season.

The AP tallied 47 points for the Broncos, the most the program has received in a preseason AP poll since 2018 when Boise State entered the season ranked No. 22, receiving 292 points.

Last week the Broncos totaled 30 points in the US LBM Coaches preseason poll, marking the 23rd straight year Boise State entered the season receiving votes in that poll as well. It marked the most points received by Boise State in the Coaches Poll since tallying 37 points in Week 14 of the 2022 season.

Boise State is in the midst of fall camp and begins the 2024 campaign on Aug. 31 at Georgia Southern. The Broncos, selected to finish atop the Mountain West in a preseason poll, are looking to win their second consecutive MW Championship and sixth MW title overall.

Led by Spencer Danielson in his first full season, Boise State looks to become the first Mountain West program to win back-to-back championships since San Diego State did so in 2015-16. Achieving such a feat will put Boise State in the discussion for the new, expanded, 12-team College Football Playoff format beginning this fall. Last year, Danielson became the first coach in college football history to win a conference championship with an interim title.
