Dalmas earns first team honor from The Athletic, Ferguson-Reynolds recognized on USA Today second team
BOISE, Idaho – Boise State's standout specialists secured additional preseason All-America honors. Kicker Jonah Dalmas was featured on The Athletic's first team and punter James Ferguson-Reynolds was named to USA Today's second team.
Dalmas has been named preseason All-America by three outlets, with this being his first inclusion on a first team. The fifth-year Bronco has made 80-of-90 field goals in his career, with his success rate of 88.9 percent ranking second in NCAA history. He holds the school record in both categories while also topping the program leaderboard in single-season field goals (26, set in 2021) and sharing the school record for longest made field goal (56 yards, set in 2023). The team captain needs to make four field goals to set the MW record and 18 to set the NCAA record.
A native of Meridian, Idaho, Dalmas is a two-time Lou Groza Award semifinalist and four-time All-Mountain West selection. He was featured on the Groza Award preseason watch list and earned preseason All-MW honors from five organizations. He has also earned Lou Groza Star of the Week and MW Special Teams Player of the Week four times each.
Ferguson-Reynolds boasts five preseason All-America honors, adding to a collection of accolades that includes four All-America recognitions in 2023. He was the national statistical punting champion, averaging a school-record 49.7 yards per punt. That mark ranks sixth in NCAA single-season history. The junior owns four of the top eight single-game punting averages in program history.
Like Dalmas, Ferguson-Reynolds has earned preseason All-MW selection from five outlets. He was also tabbed to the Ray Guy Award preseason watch list after being named a semifinalist last season. The Australian garnered Ray's 8 Punter of the Week and MW Special Teams Player of the Week honors in 2023 and was a Freshman All-American in 2022.

Achieving such a feat will put Boise State in the discussion for the new, expanded, 12-team College Football Playoff format beginning this fall. Last year, Danielson became the first coach in college football history to win a conference championship with an interim title.
