Jeanty, Ferguson-Reynolds, Hassanein, Dalmas and Simpson collect honors

BOISE, Idaho – Five Broncos were named preseason All-America by College Football Network (CFN), the organization announced Monday. Running back Ashton Jeanty earned first team honors and punter James Ferguson-Reynolds was featured on the second team. Defensive end Ahmed Hassanein and kicker Jonah Dalmas tallied third team selections while linebacker Andrew Simpson garnered honorable mention.

Jeanty has collected preseason All-America honors from four outlets after a 2023 season that featured six All-America selections. Also earning his fourth preseason All-America recognition is Ferguson-Reynolds, who was named an All-American by four outlets last season.

Hassanein is adding to a preseason awards collection that features four All-America honors and MW Co-Defensive Player of the Year selection. Dalmas has been named preseason All-America by three groups and enters the season needing 18 made field goals to set an NCAA record. This is the first preseason All-America honor for Simpson, who was named third team All-America by CFN in 2023.

The All-Americans were joined by 15 other Broncos on CFN's Preseason All-MW list. All five were named to the first team, as were Kage Casey and A'Marion McCoy. The second team featured Ty Benefield, Chase Martin, Seyi Oladipo and Mason Randolph. Roger Carreon, Kaden Dudley, Jeremiah Earby, Braxton Fely and Tavion Woodard earned third team honors. Cameron Camper, Chris Marshall, Clay Martineau, Malachi Nelson and Marco Notarainni garnered fourth team selection.

Additionally, several Broncos earned preseason specialty awards. Jeanty was named Player of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year and Running Back of the Year. Hassanein was selected Defensive Player of the Year, Defensive Lineman of the Year and EDGE Defender of the Year. The Linebacker of the Year accolade was awarded to Simpson.

Dalmas was tabbed Specialist of the Year and Kicker of the Year, while Ferguson-Reynolds garnered Punter of the Year honors. Earby was named the top defensive newcomer and defensive transfer, with Martineau securing Impact Freshman of the Year recognition. Boise State also won Secondary of the Year honors.

Led by Spencer Danielson in his first full season, Boise State looks to become the first Mountain West program to win back-to-back championships since San Diego State did so in 2015-16. Achieving such a feat will put Boise State in the discussion for the new, expanded, 12-team College Football Playoff format beginning this fall. Last year, Danielson became the first coach in college football history to win a conference championship with an interim title.
