Broncos to face South Dakota (2026), Western Michigan (2026, 2029); shifts games with Washington (2029) and Houston (2030, 2031)
BOISE, Idaho – Boise State announced a pair of additional football non-conference agreements Tuesday afternoon while also shifting dates of two future non-conference opponents.
South Dakota and Western Michigan have been added to the future slate for the Broncos beginning in 2026. Additionally, previously scheduled dates with Washington and Houston have been changed.
Boise State vs. South Dakota
A single game agreement, South Dakota will visit Albertsons Stadium on Sept. 19, 2026 in the second all-time meeting between the two programs. The first meeting between the Broncos and Coyotes came in the 1973 NCAA Division II quarterfinals with No. 7/8 Boise State cruising to a 53-10 win over No. 10/15 South Dakota in front of 14,358 in Boise.
Boise State vs. Western Michigan
The home-and-home series against Western Michigan will begin on Sept. 26, 2026 in Kalamazoo, Michigan and will mark the first time the two programs will face each other on the gridiron. The Brown and Gold Broncos will return the game with a trip to Albertsons Stadium on Sept. 22, 2029. That will mark the sixth time Boise State will venture to "The Mitten" to play a football game. The Blue and Orange are 10-3 all-time against Mid-American Conference programs and have won 10 straight against the MAC.
Boise State vs. Washington
Previously scheduled, Boise State's 2029 game at Washington will shift to Sept. 15 after originally being set for Sept. 22 of that season.
Boise State vs. Houston
The two programs have mutually agreed to shift the dates of the Broncos-Cougars series. Houston will now visit Albertsons Stadium in Boise on Sept. 14, 2030, with Boise State returning the favor with a trip to Houston on Aug. 30, 2031. The 2030 game will mark the first battle between the two teams.

Led by Spencer Danielson in his first full season, Boise State looks to become the first Mountain West program to win back-to-back championships since San Diego State did so in 2015-16. Achieving such a feat will put Boise State in the discussion for the new, expanded, 12-team College Football Playoff format beginning this fall. Last year, Danielson became the first coach in college football history to win a conference championship with an interim title.
