Boise State Athletics Receives $1M Gift from Local Orthopedic Surgeon

Dr. Moore encourages others to donate in tribute to the inspiration provided by Bronco sportsÂ
BOISE, Idaho – Boise State Athletics has received a $1 million dollar planned gift from Dr. Richard Moore, MD, an orthopedic surgeon in Boise. The gift will be designated to the Bronco football enhancement fund. Â
"I have been an admiring participant of Bronco Nation for the better part of 35 years, participating in the Stadium Club, President Club, Chaffee Guild and Coaches Club and have found great joy in contributing to the Lyle Smith and Barnwell Societies," said Dr. Moore. "Living in Boise, a high-quality university town, is such a blessing. We have witnessed the amazing growth of Boise State University and the tremendous excitement generated by the success of Bronco sports. Please join me in contributing to Boise State. This benefits our city and entire state and truly deserves our support for the incredible quality of life it adds to our lives and community."
Dr. Moore was privileged to work alongside Dr. Loren Blickenstaff. In fact, it was "Dr. Blick" who inspired Dr. Moore's interest in orthopedic surgery and Bronco Athletics. Dr. Blickenstaff, a long-time supporter of Bronco Athletics, who also served as president of the Bronco Athletic Association and as a member of the Boise State University Foundation Board.
Dr. Moore was a trailblazer who advanced the science and industry of joint replacement for active individuals with the development of a new knee implant system with a select group of academicians from around the world. He has more than 40 years of experience in the medical field. He is a graduate of the University of Washington School of Medicine and is affiliated with Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center.Â

"He has given so much of his time to Boise State over the years through his servant leadership, and we can't thank him enough for making such a wonderful commitment to the future of our football program. We choose to believe in EPIC, and Dr. Moore is a great example of that belief coming to life."

"His philanthropy and service to the university over the years continues to have long-term impacts. This most recent gift is just another chapter of that legacy."
This is the seventh $1 million gift that Bronco Athletics has received since the public launch of Unbridled: The Campaign for Boise State University. Since the launch of the Lyle Smith Society (LSS) in 2020, the department has received 18 gifts of $1 million or more from a total of 12 different individuals or families. To date, the LSS has raised more than $30 million for Boise State Athletics.
