BOISE, Idaho – Boise State long snapper Mason Hutton was named a semifinalist for the 2025 Patrick Mannelly Award, the organization announced. He is one of 10 semifinalists for the award, which is presented annually to the nation's top long snapper.
Hutton has been a four-year mainstay for the Broncos' special teams unit, appearing in all 52 games since his debut in 2022. His 2025 Pro Football Focus grade of 69.3 is a career-best. Last year, he led all Mountain West long snappers with 133 snaps. In 2023, he posted four tackles, including a pair of solo stops at Fresno State. In the 2022 Frisco Bowl, Hutton caught a two-point conversion pass in Boise State's 35-32 win over North Texas.
Boise State has operated at high levels throughout Hutton's time as a Bronco. In 2022, punter James Ferguson-Reynolds was named Freshman All-America and kicker Jonah Dalmas was a Lou Groza Award Semifinalist. The following season, Ferguson-Reynolds led the nation in punting and was named to four All-America teams, while Dalmas finished the campaign with a program-record 80 career field goals. Last year, Dalmas made all 65 PAT, ranking third in the nation, ending his career with 93 field goals, third-most in FBS history.
This season, punter Oscar Doyle was added to the Ray Guy Award watch list. He averages 43.9 yards per punt and is the nation's only punter to complete two passes, including a touchdown pass to Troy Grizzle. Bronco kickers have combined to make six field goals, including a season-long 50-yard kick from Colton Boomer.
Three finalists for the Mannelly Award will be announced on Monday, Nov. 24. The seventh winner of the award will be announced at a presentation dinner on Saturday, Dec. 13. The event will be held in Chicago, where the award's namesake played in the NFL for 16 seasons. The award benefits Bernie's Book Bank, a non-profit that provides books for underserved communities in the Chicago area.
