Boise State Athletics Launches BroncoPRO Edge to Pioneer Data-Driven Athlete Valuation and Performance Modeling

The venture is a partnership between Boise State Athletics, Boise State faculty and Masters of Athletic Leadership (MAL) program participants
BOISE, Idaho - Boise State Athletics announced the creation of BroncoPRO Edge, a new division within BroncoPRO designed to leverage advanced analytics, data science, and proprietary modeling to inform the future of athlete performance and value assessment.
BroncoPRO Edge represents a first-of-its-kind collaboration between Boise State Athletics, Boise State faculty, and participants in the Master of Athletic Leadership (MAL) program. Together, these teams are developing innovative data models that quantify individual player impact and sport-specific value, providing actionable insights to guide both competitive strategy and revenue sharing frameworks.
"We believe in being innovative in everything we do at Boise State, and BroncoPRO Edge shows our commitment to innovation in the evolving college athletics landscape," said Cody Gougler, Boise State Deputy Athletics Director and Chief Administrative Officer of BroncoPRO. "We're so proud to work with our incredible academic experts with this real-world application. We can't wait to equip our programs with cutting-edge tools that will enhance both athletic and revenue-sharing decision-making."
The models developed through BroncoPRO Edge will support each Boise State sport in identifying measurable performance indicators, ranging from efficiency and contribution metrics to team success correlation, similar to advanced player valuation tools used at the professional level.
"BroncoPRO Edge is about turning data into insight," said Kyle Allen, Associate Professor of Finance at Boise State and the faculty member helping spearhead the initiative. "We're using the same data-driven valuation tools found in financial markets to better understand athlete performance and impact, helping Boise State stay ahead in the evolving world of college sports."
The inaugural Edge team brings together expertise from across Boise State's academic and athletic communities. The founding group includes:
