Boise State Loses Bucked Up LA Bowl Hosted by Gronk

INGLEWOOD, Calif. – Turnovers plagued Boise State in a 38-10 loss to Washington in the Bucked Up LA Bowl Hosted by Gronk on Saturday. 

The Broncos (9-5) threw five interceptions in the defeat, which the Huskies (9-4) converted into 14 points. Washington outgained Boise State 355-311, but the Broncos held a slight advantage in the passing game, 253-227.

Boise State put points on the scoreboard first, following a 52-yard field goal from Colton Boomer nearly five minutes into the contest. Washington answered with a field goal of its own on the next possession as the two teams ended the first quarter knotted at three.

The Huskies claimed the lead midway through the second frame, taking advantage of broken coverage to score off a 78-yard touchdown reception. Washington would add on two more touchdowns under the two-minute timeout to take a 24-3 advantage into the locker room.

Washington tacked on another touchdown on the opening possession of the second half to take a 31-3 advantage. The Huskies added to their advantage in the fourth quarter with another touchdown.

The Broncos added a touchdown of their own late in the fourth quarter, when Max Cutforth found Matt Lauter for an 8-yard touchdown reception.

Top Broncos
- Marco Notarainni recorded a team-high nine tackles. The redshirt senior added two TFLs, one sack and a quarterback hurry.
- Sterling Lane II recorded a pair of sacks in the loss.
- Chris Marshall caught five receptions for 97 yards. Latrell Caples also caught five passes, tallying 70 yards.
- Ty Benefield and Zion Washington each recorded seven tackles.
 
Notables  
- Latrell Caples ends his career 11th in program history with 144 career receptions.
- Boise State had three players (Sterling Lane II, Marco Notarainni and Jayden Virgin-Morgan) record two or more TFLs in the contest, the first time the program has done so since last year's game against Hawaii on Oct. 12, 2024.
- Sterling Lane II recorded his first multi-sack game of the season. He entered the contest with one sack in his career.
- Colton Boomer drilled a season-long 52-yard field goal in the first quarter, marking his third field goal of 50+ yards on the season. That is the third-most 50+ yard field goals in a single season in program history.
- Boomer's 52 yard field goal is the longest field goal in a bowl game since Boise State joined the FBS ranks in 1996.
