Drew Fielder Named Mountain West Player of the Week

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State forward Drew Fielder was named the Old Trapper Mountain West Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
Earning the first weekly accolade of his career, Fielder is the 11th Bronco in program history to garner Mountain West Player of the Week honors. Since joining the conference prior to the start of the 2011-12 campaign, Boise State has amassed a combined 28 player of the week awards.
Fielder was a key contributor in the Broncos' two games from Dec. 8-14. He aided Boise State to a 22-point victory against Duquesne at home and a 68-67 victory over Saint Mary's at a neutral site in Idaho Falls.
In the two games, Fielder made 18 of his 30 field goal attempts and averaged 22.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in 21.1 minutes of game action. Scoring 23 and 22 points, respectively, Fielder is the first Bronco this season to register back-to-back 20-point efforts.
This season, Fielder has started every game for Boise State, posting 14.4 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.4 assists while shooting 58.3 percent (63-108) from the field. He is 1-of-2 Mountain West players (Kyle Jorgensen, Colorado State) averaging 14+ points, 5+ rebounds and one or more assists while making at least 55 percent of his field goal attempts.
Through 11 games, Fielder has totaled 158 points, which leads all Mountain West forwards. He is tied for the NCAA lead with the most 20-point games (4) while playing fewer than 25 minutes in each of those contests.
