NFL Broncos: Week 16

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State will be represented by 11 former players in Week 16 of the NFL season, with games being played on four different days. DeMarcus Lawrence and the Seattle Seahawks start the action on Prime Video Thursday night against the Los Angeles Rams, with the winner taking sole possession of the NFC West lead. John Bates and Jeremy McNichols play Saturday when the Washington Commanders host the Philadelphia Eagles on FOX. Eight Boise State products will compete Sunday, including former teammates Ezra Cleveland (Jacksonville Jaguars) and JL Skinner (Denver Broncos), who have helped their respective teams to first place in the division. Brett Rypien and the Indianapolis Colts wrap up Week 16 with a Monday Night Football showdown against the San Francisco 49ers, televised nationally on ABC and ESPN.

Four Broncos also have the opportunity to clinch a playoff berth, where they would join Skinner and the Broncos, who have a chance to lock up an AFC West title for the first time since 2015. Cleveland and Lawrence have their teams in playoff position, as do Scott Matlock (Los Angeles Chargers) and Khalil Shakir (Buffalo Bills). THURSDAY
Seattle Seahawks (DeMarcus Lawrence) vs. Los Angeles Rams – Prime Video, 6:15 p.m.

DeMarcus Lawrence had a season-high four solo tackles in Seattle's 18-16 win over the Indianapolis Colts, including one tackle-for-loss. This marked his 10th TFL of the year, giving him double-digit TFLs for the seventh time in his 12-year career. He missed significant time in four of the five seasons in which he did not reach 10 TFLs. The Seahawks overcame a 13-3 deficit and kicked the game-winning field goal with 18 seconds remaining after trailing in the final minute. The win moved Seattle to 11-3, tied for the best record in the NFC. The Seahawks rank in the league's top five in various defensive categories, including scoring (second, 17.3 ppg), rushing yards (third, 91.6 ypg) and total yards (fourth, 283.0 ypg).

SATURDAY
Washington Commanders (John Bates, Jeremy McNichols) vs. Philadelphia Eagles – FOX, 3 p.m.

Jeremy McNichols made his first start of the season, tallying a 16-yard reception, 14-yard kickoff return, six rushing yards and one solo tackle in Washington's 29-21 win over the New York Giants. John Bates played 58 total snaps and added a 19-yard reception, giving him nine catches for 90 yards this season.

SUNDAY
Buffalo Bills (Khalil Shakir) at Cleveland Browns – CBS, 11 a.m.

Khalil Shakir had a team-high five catches for 65 yards in Buffalo's 35-31 win over the New England Patriots. He had a 37-yard catch on fourth down to set up a go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter, then added a 12-yard catch to extend the Bills' game-winning touchdown drive. The wide receiver also had a 12-yard punt return. The win gave Buffalo a 10-4 record, putting it one game back of the Patriots in the AFC East. Shakir ranks third among NFL wide receivers in yards after catch (494) and fourth in missed tackles forced (18). The Bills rank third in the league in total offense (381.2 ypg) and scoring (29.4 ypg).

Los Angeles Chargers (Scott Matlock) at Dallas Cowboys – FOX, 11 a.m.
Scott Matlock started at fullback and caught two passes for nine yards, helping the Chargers to a 16-13 win over the Kansas City Chiefs. This was the first multi-reception game of his career and he played 36 offensive snaps, second-most in his career. Los Angeles is 10-4 this season, ranking second in the AFC West and holding the conference's top wild card spot.

Miami Dolphins (Cedrick Wilson Jr.) vs. Cincinnati Bengals – CBS, 11 a.m.
Cedrick Wilson Jr. played 11 total snaps in Miami's 28-15 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. This marked the 90th career game for the wide receiver, who has 124 catches for 1,505 yards and 12 touchdowns in his seven-year career. 

New Orleans Saints (Kellen Moore) vs. New York Jets – CBS, 11 a.m.
Kellen Moore guided the Saints to their second-straight win, a 20-17 victory over the Carolina Panthers. New Orleans trailed by 10 entering the final two minutes of the third quarter, but rallied to score 13 answered points, capping the win with a 47-yard field goal in the final seconds. The Saints totaled 337 yards of offense, converting on 6-of-11 third downs. Wide receiver Chris Olave had six receptions, putting his season total at 82, seventh-most in the NFL.

Jacksonville Jaguars (Ezra Cleveland) at Denver Broncos (JL Skinner) – FOX, 2:05 p.m.
Ezra Cleveland played 62 total snaps in Jacksonville's 48-20 drubbing of the New York Jets. The Jaguars posted season-highs in points, total yards (438) and passing yards (330), extending their record to 10-4 and maintaining their first-place standing in the AFC South. The offensive lineman paves the way for a unit that ranks eighth in the league in scoring (26.9 ppg). This is Jacksonville's seventh double-digit win season since the franchise began in 1995. JL Skinner played 16 special teams snaps in Denver's 34-26 win over the Green Bay Packers. The victory gave the Broncos an NFL-best 12-2 record, making them the first AFC team to clinch a playoff berth. Denver has already matched its best win total since 2013, when it went 13-3 and won the AFC title. 

Las Vegas Raiders (Ashton Jeanty) at Houston Texans – CBS, 2:25 p.m.
Ashton Jeanty totaled 42 yards from scrimmage in the Raiders' 31-0 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. The rookie has 700 rushing yards and 266 receiving yards, as well as four touchdowns in each category. He is one of three players this season and the fifth rookie this century to attain those numbers. The running back has 597 yards after contact, 400 yards after catch and 64 total missed tackles forced this season.

MONDAY
Indianapolis Colts (Brett Rypien) vs. San Francisco 49ers – ABC/ESPN, 6:15 p.m.

Brett Rypien was inactive in the Colts' 18-16 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Indianapolis is 8-6 and remains in the hunt for an AFC playoff berth.
