Matsueda Named Mountain West Golfer of the Week

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State sophomore Teal Matsueda was named Mountain West Women's Golfer of the Week, the conference announced, Thursday. This is the first time Matsueda has won the award, giving her two-career MW honors. On Feb. 22, 2024, she was tabbed MW Freshman of the Week.

Matsueda led the Broncos with an 11th-place finish at the Silicon Valley Showcase, firing a 216 (+3). She was consistent throughout the two-day tournament, carding a 72 (+1) in every round. The sophomore tallied 39 pars, second-most in the tournament. She closed the event with birdies on three of the last six holes.

Matsueda has a team-high five top-25 finishes this season. She has placed in the top-25 nine times throughout her career. She is the first Bronco to earn a conference award during the 2024-25 campaign. The last Boise State player to earn MW Golfer of the Week was Leia Chung, who was recognized on April 5, 2024.

Boise State concludes the regular season at the Chevron Silverado Showdown, April 7-9. The Broncos will play on the Silverado Resort South Course in Napa, Calif. The 2025 Mountain West Championship is slated for April 15-17 in Palm Desert, Calif.
