Offense Outpaces Defense in Spring Game

BOISE, Idaho - The Boise State offense scored four of its five touchdowns on the ground to defeat the defense by a modified score of 45-27 in the 2025 Boise State Spring Game at Albertsons Stadium, Saturday.
Three different Broncos found the end zone from the ground as the Broncos totaled 136 rushing yards on the afternoon. Malik Sherrod scored the opening touchdown with a 65-yard scamper in the opening quarter and finished the game with a game-high 76 rushing yards on three carries. Dylan Riley punched in two touchdowns and finished with 20 rushing yards.Â
Quarterback Zeke Martinez added the fourth rushing score of the day from six yards out to give the offense a 35-25 advantage after the third frame. On the opening possession of the final quarter, Kaleb Annett found Cameron Bates for a 20-yard touchdown pass as the offense took a 45-25 lead.Â
Five quarterbacks combined to throw for 155 yards on the day. Annet led the way by completing six of his 10 passing attempts while throwing for 77 yards and a score. AJ Maes led the receiving corps with three catches for 55 yards. Bates and Ben Ford each recorded two catches for 31 and 20 yards, respectively.Â
Defensively, the Broncos combined for six sacks and nine tackles-for-loss. Jake Ripp recorded a pair of sacks for nine yards lost, while Cole Miller led the team with five total tackles.
Boise State will open the 2025 regular season at South Florida on Thursday, Aug. 28 in Tampa. The Broncos' home opener is slated for Saturday, Sept. 6 against Eastern Washington.Â
