BOISE, Idaho – Boise State sophomore Teal Matsueda was named to the 2024-25 All-Mountain West Women's Golf second team, the conference announced. Matsueda averaged 73.33 strokes per round this season, the second-best mark in program history. She also posted a pair of top-10 finishes and placed 25th or better seven times, tying the sixth-most in school single-season history.
Â
Matsueda tied for 10th at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic, firing a 214 (-2) to lead Boise State to a runner-up finish and school-record team score of 856 (-8). She added an 18th-place finish at the Dale McNamara Invitational, where the Broncos finished fifth. This is the 10th-best 54-hole score in program history and her third-round score of 68 (-4) marked a career-best and the ninth-lowest individual round in school history. Boise State rewrote the record book that week, setting program-bests in two-round score (566, -10) and three-round score (846, -18) while notching the second and third-lowest rounds in school history.
Â
A native of Kaimuki, Hawaii, Matsueda went 3-0-0 to lead the Broncos to the team title at Mountain Classic Match Play. She was the team's top finisher at the Alice and John Wallace Women's Golf Classic and followed that with a 20th-place finish at the Momentum Transportation UNF Collegiate. The Kalani HS product tied for 11th at the Silicon Valley Showcase, carding a 72 in each round to finish at 216 (+3). After that tournament, she earned MW Golfer of the Week for the first time in her career, her second-career MW weekly accolade. Matsueda added a 25th-place finish in the regular season finale, placing above eight golfers that ranked in the nation's top 140.
Â
The sophomore finished the season with a 223 (+7) at the MW Championships, the sixth-best conference championship score in program history. She notched a career-best eighth-place finish, Boise State's highest at a conference championship since Franca Polla placed fifth in 2022. Matsueda's current career average of 73.45 strokes per round is the second-best in program history. Boise State's season scoring average of 296.74 strokes per round also ranks second in school history.
Â
Matsueda is the 16th player in program history to earn all-conference honors, with the group combining for 20 awards. She is the fifth golfer to garner All-MW selection and first to do so under head coach Kailin Downs. Matsueda joins Hayley Young (2012-13), Samantha Martin (2013-14), Genevieve Ling (2014-15) and Tara Finigan (2018-19), who were also tabbed All-MW second team.
