
Eight Broncos Earn CSC Academic All-District Recognition

BOISE, Idaho – Eight Boise State student-athletes garnered Academic All-District recognition, the Collegiate Sports Communicators announced on Tuesday.
The Broncos were represented by beach volleyball's Allyson Alden, Ava Anderson, Addison Wolden and Abbie Wolf; men's golfers Luke Kushman and Cole Rueck; gymnastics' Emily Lopez; and Teal Matsueda from the women's golf team.
The eight athletes were represented on the CSC's At-Large Team, which encompasses 22 Division I sports. To be eligible for CSC academic honors, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5.
Beach Volleyball
Alden earns the honor after being named the Southland Conference Student-Athlete of the Year. The SLC Newcomer of the Year, the San Marcos, Calif., native was named first-team all-conference from the No. 2 position. The senior posted a 21-10 mark, finishing 6-3 from the top court and 15-7 from the No. 2 position. Alden claimed victories over pairs from three ranked teams (No. 11 Arizona State, No. 18 Grand Canyon and No. 7 Florida State) and finished 9-2 against conference foes on the year. Alden, who will be returning to the Broncos for her fifth year next season, is currently pursuing a business administration master's degree and earned a 3.95 GPA last semester.
Anderson, who earned the distinction for the second consecutive season, and Wolden earned the distinction after playing the entire season together. The duo posted a 20-13 record, going 11-11 from the top court and finishing 9-2 from the No. 2 position. The pair won three matches against opponents from the top court (No. 18 Grand Canyon, No. 12 Florida Atlantic and No. 13 Texas) and finished the year with an 8-4 record against conference foes.
Anderson, a health studies major with a 3.80 cumulative GPA, ended the season becoming the sixth player in program history with 60+ career wins, while Wolden, a integrated media and strategic communications major with a 3.82 cumulative GPA, became the fastest player to reach 50 career victories last year.
Wolf adds to her academic honors after being named to the SLC's all-academic team last week. A communications major with a 3.89 cumulative GPA, she was named first team all-conference from the No. 3 position after posting an 18-10 mark, including a 7-1 record against conference foes. Following a dominant performance at the SLC Tournament, Wolf was named the SLC Pair of the Tournament alongside partner Avery Allen. She defeated three ranked pairs on the season (No. 12 Florida Atlantic, No. 13 Texas and No. 9 Florida State), and ended the season with the program's best winning percentage in program history (75.0%).
Men's Golf
Cushman, a pre-business: business administration major, boasts a 3.94 cumulative GPA heading into his junior year. He takes home CSC Academic All-District honors for the first time. Competing in 12 tournaments in the fall and spring seasons, Cushman had three top-3 finishes and one victory (UCSB Gaucho Invitational). He compiled a 482-466-29 record and collected Mountain West Golfer of the Week honors on April 10.
Adding to an already impressive 2024-25 resume, Rueck earns CSC Academic All-District honors for the second consecutive year. The Corvallis, Oregon native is a finance major with a 3.61 cumulative GPA. Improving on his sophomore campaign, Rueck averaged 71.2 strokes per round, signifying the sixth-best mark by a Bronco in a single season. Recording seven top-10 finishes and two victories (Genesis Collegiate Showcase & Loyola Intercollegiate), Rueck was named to the All-Mountain West Men's Golf Team for the second time in his three academic years. He is just the ninth Bronco to garner multiple all-conference nods in program history. He finished the year with a 736-202-39 record.
Gymnastics
Lopez earned CSC Academic All-District honors for the third-straight year, adding to an impressive resume that includes four WCGA Scholastic All-America selections and three academic all-conference awards. The fifth year obtained a bachelor's degree in marketing, graduating with a 3.65 GPA. She currently boasts a 3.67 GPA as she pursues her Masters in Athletic Leadership. She led the Broncos to the 2025 Mountain West regular season title and repeated as MW Bars Specialist of the Year. She became the first gymnast in program history to earn first team all-conference honors five-consecutive years, tying the school record with eight-career first team honors. Lopez concluded her career with 21 wins on bars, second-most in program history.
Women's Golf
Matsueda secured her first-career CSC Academic All-District honor after maintaining a 4.00 GPA while pursuing her degree in business. She was named All-MW second team, becoming the first Bronco to earn all-conference honors since 2019. Her season scoring average of 73.33 ranks second in Boise State's single-season history. The Broncos averaged 296.74 strokes per round, second-best in program history, and set the program's 54-hole record at The Clash at Boulder Creek, firing an 846 (-18). Matuseda recorded a career-best eighth-place finish at the MW Championships, giving her a pair of top-10 finishes and seven top-25 finishes on the year. Her academic accolades include WGCA All-America Scholar, MW Scholar-Athlete and Academic All-MW.
