
Broncos Place Eight on Shrine Bowl 1000 Watchlist

BOISE, Idaho – Eight Boise State football players were selected to the 2025 Shrine Bowl 1000 Watchlist, the East-West Shrine Bowl announced. Ty Benefield, Kage Casey, Jeremiah Earby, Matt Lauter, Maddux Madsen, A'Marion McCoy, Marco Notarainni and Jayden Virgin-Morgan represent the Broncos on this year's list.
Benefield enters his junior season with 128 career tackles, including 9.5 tackles for loss and 3.0 sacks. He has three interceptions, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble. In 2024, he was a Cornish Trophy Finalist and earned All-Mountain West Honorable Mention. He is a 2025 Preseason All-MW selection.
Casey is a redshirt junior who was tabbed All-America Second Team by The Athletic and Walter Camp in 2024. He led MW tackles and ranked third in the nation with a 99.3 Pro Football Focus pass blocking efficiency. Athlon Sports, Phil Steele and Walter Camp named him a Preseason All-American.
Earby started all 14 games in his first season at Boise State, totaling 34 tackles and seven pass breakups. He also notched an interception, forced fumble and fumble recovery while limiting opposing quarterbacks to a 49.2 completion percentage when targeting him. The senior was selected Preseason All-MW by Athlon Sports and Phil Steele.
Lauter caught 47 passes for 619 yards and a team-high seven touchdowns last season, leading MW tight ends in each category. He also ranked in the top 20 among FBS tight ends in all three categories. The redshirt senior was an All-MW First Team pick in 2024 and landed on the Preseason All-MW list.
Madsen, the Preseason MW Offensive Player of the Year, led the conference in passing yards (3,018) and touchdowns (23) in 2024. He added 221 rushing yards and five touchdowns, guiding Boise State's offense to the country's fifth-best scoring average (37.3 ppg). The redshirt junior has a 13-2 record as the Broncos' starting quarterback and was named to the Maxwell Award preseason watch list.
McCoy was a member of the 2024 Shrine Bowl 1000 Watchlist, finishing his year with an FBS-high 19 forced incompletions. He tallied 60 tackles, forcing one fumble and returning an interception for a touchdown. The fifth year is a Preseason All-MW selection.
Notarainni was named All-MW First Team in 2024 after tallying 60 tackles, including 7.5 TFLs and 3.5 sacks. He recovered two fumbles, tying for first in the conference and 19th in the nation. The redshirt senior is a College Sports Communicators Academic All-American and Allstate AFCA Good Works Team nominee.
Virgin-Morgan earned All-MW First Team honors last year after recording 10.0 sacks, ranking second in the MW and 14th in the FBS. He added 15.5 TFLs, third-most in the conference and 17th-most in the country. The redshirt junior is a Preseason All-MW selection and was named to the Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch List.
The East-West Shrine Bowl is a best-in-class all-star event that will take place at Ford Center at The Star in Frisco,Texas on January 27, 2026. Our players will be coached by NFL coaches, in an NFL facility, and will have access to NFL-level resources, facilities, player-friendly schedules, and opportunities at the highest level.
