BOISE, Idaho — Boise State Men's Golf Head Coach David Trainor announced on Thursday the addition of Collin Toner as the team's assistant coach.
"I am thrilled to welcome Collin to our Boise State golf family," Trainor said. "We had a lot of interest in the position and Collin separated himself with his overall knowledge of NCAA rules and his work with both the men's and women's teams at Baylor.
"Having learned from Mike McGraw and Jay Noble—two of the best coaches in our sport—I'm certain Collin will be an asset to myself and our student-athletes from the get go. His willingness to learn and eagerness to join Boise State will help him immensely in the upcoming school year. I look forward to Collin helping our student-athletes achieve their goals on the course and in the classroom."
Toner joins the Broncos after spending the previous four years at Baylor performing various roles. He concluded his tenure as director of golf operations for both the men's and women's teams.
"I'm so very grateful to Coach Trainor for affording me the opportunity to join Boise State Men's Golf," said Toner. I look forward to working together with the administration, staff and student-athletes to help the program achieve new levels of success."
Toner will play a pivotal role in the overall development of student-athletes. He'll also assist in recruiting efforts and manage operational aspects of the program.
Hired full time by the Bears in July 2023, Toner first served as director of operations for the women's golf team. Before the start of his second season on staff, Toner added additional responsibilities and was named the team's assistant coach.
In total, Toner was a full-time staffer for women's golf for two full seasons. He helped Baylor rank 35th nationally in 2023-24 and 37th in the 2024-25 campaign.
Prior to garnering full-time status, Toner worked as a graduate assistant in compliance at Baylor, earning his Master of Science in Education degree in July 2023. During that time, he assisted head coaches, student-athletes and staff with transcript review, coach camp and clinic requests, NCAA bylaw interpretations, NIL trends and student-athlete NIL activity.
A native of Grand Island, Neb., Toner attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he earned his bachelor's degree in 2021. He majored in professional golf management and minored in business administration.
