BOISE, Idaho – Boise State quarterback Maddux Madsen was selected to his fifth national watch list, earning a spot on the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award Watch List. The award is presented annually to the top senior or upperclassman quarterback who is on track to graduate with their class. Madsen is the third player in program history to earn a spot on the watch list, joining Kellen Moore (2011), Joe Southwick (2013) and Brett Rypien (2018). He is one of 58 players on the 2025 list, which includes four from the Mountain West. The team captain is joined by Walker Eget (San Jose State), Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi (Colorado State) and E.J. Walker (Fresno State).
Madsen was named Preseason MW Offensive Player of the Year after throwing for a conference-high 3,018 yards and 23 touchdowns last season. He had nine games last season with zero interceptions on 25+ attempts, the most in the FBS. The American Fork HS product added five touchdowns and 221 yards on the ground. Madsen has a 13-2 career record as Boise State's starter.
This year, Madsen has been included on the watch lists for the Davey O'Brien, Manning, Maxwell and Walter Camp awards. The winner of the 39th Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award will be celebrated at the annual Golden Arm Award ceremony at the Four Seasons Hotel in Baltimore, Maryland.
