BOISE, Idaho – Boise State women's golf head coach Kailin Downs signed a two-year contract extension, director of athletics Jeramiah Dickey announced Tuesday.

Downs, entering her fifth season at the helm, will remain with the program through the 2028 season.

"I could not be more proud to be a Bronco, and I'm incredibly excited to continue leading this program as we keep raising the bar and building something special for our student-athletes, fans and community," Downs said.

The 10th head coach in program history, Downs has elevated the women's golf team since her arrival in 2021. Eight of the program's top-10 low tournament scores have been under Downs' leadership.

"Since taking over our women's golf program, Kailin has continued to be a Bar Raiser for the Broncos," said Dickey. "The team is always improving on the course, including setting scoring records last season, to excelling in the classroom. We're also proud of her representing the Broncos as a coach with Team USA at the Junior Golf World Cup this past summer, showing her ability to elevate the Boise State golf brand. We believe in her taking this team even higher as we move on to What's Next!"

In her first season, Downs led the Broncos to a fourth-place finish at the Mountain West Championship, the program's highest in nine years. Franca Polla placed fifth individually, the best finish by a Bronco since 2006.

In year two, Boise State set a program record for lowest team scoring average (293.34). Four student-athletes also posted individual season scoring averages that ranked among the program's all-time top 10.

Downs has also prioritized academic success. Under her leadership, the team posted a program-record 3.82 GPA during the 2024 spring semester.

Most recently, during the 2024-25 season, the Broncos recorded the second-best team scoring average in school history (296.74) and set program records for lowest 36-hole score (566, -10) and lowest 54-hole score (846, -18).

The Broncos open their fall season Sept. 7-9 at the Golfweek Fall Challenge in Pawleys Island, S.C.
