BOISE, Idaho – Boise State quarterback Maddux Madsen added another preseason accolade, garnering inclusion on the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award Watch List, the organization announced.

The redshirt junior is one of 46 players on the watch list, a group that includes 22 quarterbacks. He is one of two Mountain West student-athletes, joined by UNLV running back Jai'Den Thomas. This marks the third-straight year the Broncos have had a player featured on the Walter Camp watch list, a streak that began with Taylen Green in 2023 and continued with award finalist Ashton Jeanty in 2024.

Madsen has also been named to the Maxwell Award Watch List and Shrine Bowl 1000 Watchlist. He is the Preseason MW Offensive Player of the Year and secured Preseason All-MW First Team honors from Athlon Sports and Phil Steele. He enters the 2025 campaign with a 13-2 career record as Boise State's starting quarterback.

Last season, Madsen was named to the Davey O'Brien Class of 2024 after leading the MW in passing yards (3,018) and touchdowns (24). His 142.5 passing efficiency ranked second in the league and he was the only player in the country with at least 12 passing touchdowns and one or fewer interceptions in conference play. The American Fork HS product added 221 yards and five touchdowns on the ground.

The 2025 Walter Camp Player of Year Watch List will be narrowed to 10 semifinalists in early November. Three finalists will be announced in early December. The 2025 Walter Camp Player of the Year recipient, who is voted on by the 133 NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors, will be announced on ESPN's College Football Awards Show on December 12.
