BOISE, Idaho – Boise State running back Sire Gaines was named the Old Trapper Mountain West Freshman of the Week, the conference announced. Gaines ran for 98 yards and one touchdown on 14 carries in the Broncos' 51-14 win over Eastern Washington.

Gaines averaged 7.0 yards per carry, opening the game with a 46-yard rush and scoring an 8-yard touchdown in the first quarter. He added an 11-yard reception, finishing the game with 84 yards after contact and six missed tackles forced. Boise State racked up 637 yards of offense in the victory, eclipsing 300 yards rushing and passing for the first time since 2018.

This is the second time Gaines has been named MW Freshman of the Week. Last year, he earned the honor after tallying 154 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns in Boise State's season-opening win at Georgia Southern. The redshirt freshman is the third Bronco to earn the award multiple times, joining quarterbacks Taylen Green (four-time honoree) and Maddux Madsen (two-time honoree).
