BOISE, Idaho – Boise State quarterback Maddux Madsen was named one of 20 semifinalists for the Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Award, the organization announced. The award is presented annually to a college football player who exemplifies leadership on and off the field. He is the second Bronco in the last three seasons to earn a spot as a semifinalist, joining Ahmed Hassanein, who was also a finalist in 2024.

Madsen is serving as a team captain for the second consecutive season and has thrown for 1,296 yards, 13 touchdowns and zero interceptions on 110-of-166 (66.3%) passing. He has guided the Broncos to a 5-1 overall record, 2-0 Pac-12 mark and a ranking in the Associated Press (No. 21) and Coaches (No. 22) Polls. He and backfield mate Dylan Riley were recently named to the Pony Express Award Midseason Watch List, which recognizes the top tandem in college football.

The fifth year is featured throughout the Boise State record book, ranking sixth in career completions (617), touchdowns (63), 200-yard games (22) and total offense per game (205.2). He ranks seventh with 7,882 career passing yards and 8,415 career yards of total offense. His career interception ratio of 0.018 (18 in 1,000 attempts) ranks third in school history. This season, he is one of two FBS quarterbacks to throw at least 10 touchdowns without an interception.

A native of Lehi, Utah, Madsen has made a tremendous impact in the Treasure Valley. He is part of the BroncoBOLD High School Ambassador Program, which promotes mental health awareness at local schools. He has also assisted with BroncoBOLD's annual Chalk the Walk, where local students share messages of hope to launch National Suicide Prevention Week. Madsen obtained his bachelor's degree in May and is a two-time College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selection.

Three finalists for the Witten Collegiate Man of the Year award will be announced December 15. The 10th recipient of the award will be announced at a ceremony at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on March 11, 2027.
