Eleven Broncos Named to Hampshire Honor Society

BOISE, Idaho – Eleven student-athletes from the Boise State football team were named to the National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society, the organization announced. Braxton Fely, Ben Ford, Zach Holmes, Maddux Madsen, Marco Notarainni, Chase Penry, Jake Ripp, Austin Terry, Jayden Virgin-Morgan, Luke Voorhees and Zion Washington were recognized for their athletic and academic achievements. With this group, the Broncos have garnered 82 honorees since the Hampshire Honor Society was founded in 2007, the eighth-highest total in the FBS. The 2016 and 2025 teams are tied for the top spot in program history, posting 11 each, while the 2024 squad ranks third with eight inductees.

Fely repeated as an All-Mountain West second team selection in 2025 after posting 24 tackles, including 6.5 for loss. He ranked second on the team with 5.5 sacks and added a blocked PAT at No. 21 Notre Dame. Fely finished his Boise State career with 14.0 sacks and four forced fumbles. The defensive lineman is a three-time Academic All-MW honoree, majoring in Interdisciplinary Professional Studies.

Ford compiled 21 receptions for 325 yards and a team-high five touchdowns before suffering a season-ending injury in the Broncos' seventh game. All five scores came at home, including a pair of two-touchdown games (Sept. 5 against Eastern Washington and Oct. 11 against New Mexico. The wide receiver has been named Academic All-MW and a MW Scholar-Athlete three times each, earning a degree in Business Administration.

Holmes appeared in all 14 games for the Broncos, making six starts at center. He played every snap against Utah State on Nov. 28, helping Boise State gain 512 yards and clinch a berth in the MW Championship. He also played every snap in the title game against UNLV, earning a season-high 83.5 Pro Football Focus pass blocking grade. A two-time Academic All-MW honoree, Holmes obtained his degree in Business in December.

Madsen totaled 2,334 passing yards and 18 touchdowns in 11 starts, adding 81 yards and four touchdowns on the ground. He was named MW Championship Offensive MVP after compiling 299 total yards and four total touchdowns. The quarterback has been tabbed College Sports Communicators Academic All-District twice and MW Scholar-Athlete and Academic All-MW three times apiece. He is set to earn a degree in Interdisciplinary Professional Studies this spring.

Notarainni recorded 77 tackles, including 6.0 TFLs and 2.5 sacks, finishing his career with 192 tackles and 114 solo stops in 39 games. The linebacker has a lengthy list of academic accolades, including CSC Academic All-America second team, Campbell Trophy semifinalist, four-time MW Scholar-Athlete and four-time Academic All-MW. He was a Top 10 Scholar at Boise State, earning a degree in Business Administration.

Penry caught 30 passes for 394 yards and a touchdown, totaling 26 receptions and 354 yards in the final seven games of the season. He had a team-high 96 receiving yards in the MW Championship win over UNLV, tallying 74 yards after catch. A two-time CSC Academic All-District selection, the wide receiver obtained a degree in Accountancy last fall while earning a pair of Academic All-MW and MW Scholar-Athlete honors.

Ripp saw action in all 14 games, making six starts. He posted 43 tackles, including 3.0 TFLs, and one fumble recovery. At No. 21 Notre Dame, he notched six tackles, including 1.5 TFLs. He added a season-high eight tackles at San Diego State and recovered a fumble against Washington in the LA Bowl. The linebacker is a three-time Academic All-MW selection and is on track to obtain his degree in Interdisciplinary Professional Studies this spring.

Terry saw action in 12 games for the Blue and Orange, making his first-career start at No. 21 Notre Dame on Oct. 4. The tight end has appeared in 33 games with the Broncos, catching two passes for 35 yards. He is a three-time Academic All-MW honoree and obtained his degree in Business Administration last fall.

Virgin-Morgan secured his second-straight All-MW nod after posting team-highs in TFLs (13.0) and sacks (6.0) while finishing the year with 56 tackles. The EDGE has 16.0 sacks and 31.0 TFLs in his Boise State career. He has 120 total tackles, three forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries as a Bronco. A three-time Academic All-MW selection, the captain is set to earn his degree in Criminal Justice this spring.

Voorhees played in all 14 games for Boise State in 2025, contributing on offense and special teams. He recorded his first-career reception at No. 21 Notre Dame, a 7-yard catch. The tight end played in 41 games for the Blue and Orange, earning CSC Academic All-District honors twice, Academic All-MW selection three times and MW Scholar-Athlete recognition four times while obtaining a degree in Entrepreneurship Management.

Washington started 12 games for the Broncos, totaling 66 tackles, 2.5 TFLs, 1.0 sack and one interception. His sack and interception came in the Nov. 22 win over Colorado State, when he also tallied eight solo and nine total tackles. He finished his Boise State career with 167 tackles including 106 solo stops and 8.5 TFLs. He earned a degree in Business Administration while earning two CSC Academic All-District, three MW Scholar-Athlete and four Academic All-MW awards.

To be inducted into the NFF Hampshire Honor Society, student-athletes must be senior players who will graduate in the spring or summer of 2026 and have completed their final year of playing eligibility in 2025, or graduate players who have been enrolled at least three years. A student-athlete must have attained a minimum undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.2 (4.0 scale) and been a starter or significant contributor throughout the season. This year, a record 2,596 players from 365 institutions were recognized.
