Eight Broncos Earn NFL Opportunities

BOISE, Idaho – Eight former Boise State players earned opportunities to compete in the NFL after their careers with the Broncos. Tight end Matt Lauter (Las Vegas Raiders) and safety Zion Washington (Cleveland Browns) were signed as undrafted free agents, while cornerback Jeremiah Earby (Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders), defensive lineman Braxton Fely (Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers), defensive lineman Herbert Gums (Seattle Seahawks), cornerback A'Marion McCoy (Philadelphia Eagles), offensive lineman Mason Randolph (Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints) and EDGE Malakai Williams (Las Vegas Raiders and New Orleans Saints) received rookie minicamp invites.
 
Lauter caught 97 passes for 1,146 yards and 12 touchdowns during his 54-game career, ranking third all-time among Boise State tight ends in yards and touchdowns. He was a two-time All-Mountain West selection, garnering first team honors in 2024 and honorable mention in 2025. As a redshirt junior, he caught 47 passes, most by a Bronco tight end in single-season history. That season, he led the Blue and Orange with seven receiving touchdowns.
 
Washington appeared in 52 games at Boise State, totaling 167 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks. In 2024, he tallied 67 tackles, including 46 solo and 3.5 for loss. He added six passes defended and forced two fumbles. As a redshirt senior, he notched 66 tackles, including a career-high 10 at Air Force. In a win over Colorado State, he tallied nine tackles, a solo sack and his first career interception.
 
Earby started every game in 2024 and 2025 after transferring to the Broncos from California, where he earned Freshman All-America and All-Pac 12 honors in 2022. In two seasons at Boise State, he tallied 94 tackles, five interceptions and 20 passes defended. In 2025, he tied for the team lead in interceptions with four, which ranked 23rd in the FBS. He was fifth on the team with 60 total tackles that season, earning All-MW second team honors. He was tabbed MW Defensive Player of the Week twice, with both awards coming after a two-interception game.
 
Fely played in all 56 games during his Boise State career, making 40 starts. He was a two-time All-MW second team selection, registering 67 tackles, 20.0 TFLs and 14.0 sacks. He posted 24 tackles in back-to-back seasons, totaling 11.0 sacks and 15.5 TFLs during that span. In 2023, he forced three fumbles, leading the league and tying for 16th in the FBS. In addition to ranking second on the team with 5.5 sacks in 2025, he blocked a PAT attempt at No. 21 Notre Dame, the Broncos' 27th-consecutive season with a blocked kick.
 
Gums saw action in 47 games with the Broncos, starting 39. He registered 73 tackles, 7.0 TFLs and 3.5 sacks. He notched 25 tackles, 3.5 TFLs and two passes defended as a sophomore, then added 21 tackles and a fumble recovery as a junior. The Broncos led the nation with 55 sacks during his senior campaign, with Gums totaling 1.5 and finishing the year with 21 tackles.
 
McCoy played three seasons with Boise State after transferring from Laney College, collecting a pair of All-MW honors while recording 118 tackles, eight interceptions and 23 passes defended. He posted a team-high three interceptions in 2023, then scored on a pick-six with his lone interception in 2024. That season, he led the FBS with 19 forced incompletions and ranked second with 14 pass breakups. In 2025, he tallied four interceptions, returning two for touchdowns, tied for the most in the nation.
 
Randolph appeared in 39 games during his time with the Broncos, seeing time at center and both guard positions. He did not allow a sack in 2022, earning Freshman All-America honors from the FWAA and College Football News. In 2023, he paved the way for an offense that ranked sixth in the nation with 214.9 rushing yards per game and 13th in the country with 1.14 sacks allowed per game. He returned from injury in 2024 to help the Broncos win a second-straight MW title and earn the No. 3 seed in the College Football Playoff. In 2025, he started all 14 games, earning All-MW first team honors and leading the Blue and Orange to 424.0 yards per game, ranking 24th in the nation.
 
Williams played in 13 games after transferring to Boise State from Idaho, where he was an All-Big Sky selection in 2024. He tallied 11 tackles, including 3.0 TFLs and 1.5 sacks, as well as seven quarterback hurries. He notched a solo sack and a season-best three tackles at Air Force, then forced a fumble against App State.
