Madsen Secures Spot on Golden Arm Award Watch List

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State fifth year Maddux Madsen added another preseason accolade, securing a spot on the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Watch List. The award has been presented annually since 1987 to the nation's top upperclassman quarterback. It recognizes student-athletes who demonstrate character, citizenship, integrity and respect for the game.
Madsen has thrown for 6,586 yards and 50 touchdowns on 507 completions, ranking eighth in school history in each category. He also ranks eighth in career 200-yard (17) and 300-yard games (4). He notched a pair of 300-yard performances in the 2024 and 2025 seasons, guiding Boise State to a Mountain West title both years. He was voted Offensive MVP of the 2025 MW Championship, throwing for 289 yards and three touchdowns while adding another rushing score.
A product of American Fork HS, Madsen is a three-time conference player of the week and member of the Davey O'Brien Quarterback Class of 2024. He was tabbed Preseason All-Pac-12 second team by Athlon Sports and Phil Steele. He is also featured on the watch lists for the Maxwell Award, Walter Camp Award and Wuerffel Trophy. This is the second-straight season Madsen has been selected to the Golden Arm Award Watch List.
Madsen is one of 27 quarterbacks on this year's list and the only representative from the Pac-12. Eligible quarterbacks must have at least three years of college football experience. Players may have no more than five years of college enrollment and must have played for no more than two college programs. The group will be narrowed to semifinalists and finalists before the winner is selected at the annual Golden Arm Award ceremony in Baltimore on December 9.
