Pete Cavender to Retire From Bronco Radio Network

Michael Callahan Will Finish Season as Color Analyst
BOISE, Idaho – Pete Cavender will retire from his position as the gameday color analyst for Bronco Radio Network after serving in the role for 17 seasons, he announced jointly with Boise State Athletics on Wednesday. Michael Callahan, a former defensive tackle for the Blue and Orange (2020-24), will serve as the new color analyst for the radio broadcasts this season after Cavender steps away.
Cavender will remain on the call for the first two games of Boise State's 2026 campaign. His final game, the 221st of his career, will be on Sept. 12 in the home opener against Memphis.
Originally from Elko, Nev., Cavender played on the offensive line for the Broncos alongside his twin brother, Jeff, from 2004-07. He was a part of five bowl teams at Boise State, playing mostly guard and center during his career. He was a member of the 2007 Fiesta Bowl Championship team and will be honored alongside his teammates during the 20th anniversary celebration of the event on Oct. 3 against Utah State.
"After 17 years in the booth, I have decided to step away from announcing Bronco games on the radio," Cavender said. "It's truly been an honor representing the Blue and Orange as a former player and voice on the radio. Thank you to all the fans who rode with me all these years."
Callahan will take over the role starting with the September 19 game against South Dakota. During his career with the Broncos, Callahan appeared in 48 games, tallying 56 tackles, 4.0 TFLs and 2.5 sacks.
"I'm so excited and grateful for the opportunity to join the Bronco Radio Network broadcast," Callahan said. "I'm fired up to share the gameday experience with our fans in this new role. I'm looking forward to sharing my perspective and bringing the passion I have to the booth."
Bronco Radio Network is comprised of 10 stations throughout the northwest, with KBOI 670 AM serving as the flagship station.
