2018-19: CROSS COUNTRY- Appeared at three meets on the season, traveling with the varsity lineup for the postseason . . . cracked the top 10 at the Sundodger Invitational, finishing ninth in 24:43.60 (Sept. 8) . . . was victorious at the Charles Bowles Invitational, leading Boise State to the team title in 24:09.2 (Sept. 29) . . . placed 35th at the Mountain West Championships, helping the men to a team title (Oct. 26) . . . INDOOR- Won the mile in a wire-to-wire effort at the Bronco Invitational, winning in 4:12.20 (Jan. 20) . . . finished 19th in the 3000m at the UW Invitational, posting a time of 8:09.06 (Jan. 25-26) . . . notched a top 10 finish in the 5000m at the Husky Classic, running 14:09.95 to finish ninth in his first appearance in the event (Feb. 8) . . . won a conference title in the distance medley relay at the Mountain West championships while also reaching the final of the mile (Feb. 21-23) . . . OUTDOOR- Competed at four meets in events ranging from 800m to 5,000-meter . . . took sixth in the 1,500-meter (3:49.17) and 15th in the 5,000-meter (14:40.52) at the Mountain West Championship to conclude his career (May 8-11) . . . set a new personal best of 1:54.86 in the 800m to take fourth at the Border Clash (April 26-27) . . . opened the season in the 5,000-meter at the Stanford Invite (March 29-30) . . . also competed in the 1,500-meter at the Bryan Clay Invitational (April 17-19) and the Portland Twilight (May 3).
2017-18: CROSS COUNTRY- A team captain, appeared in three meets on the season . . . ran 32:40.7 for 10k at the NCAA Championships (Nov. 18) . . . finished 30th at the Mountain West Championships in 24:55.93 (Oct. 27) . . . made season debut at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational, running 25:18.0 (Oct. 13). . . INDOOR- Scored two points with a seventh-place finish in the mile (4:12.22) at the Mountain West Championship (Feb. 22-24) . . . ran a personal best in 4:04.64 – the fourth-fastest time in school history – in the mile that earned him a top-25 finish at the 2018 Husky Classic (Feb. 9-10) . . . took 23rd in the 3,000m at the UW Invitational, running 8:13.40 . . . opened the season by running the 1,200m leg of the Boise State ‘White’ DMR at the Ed Jacoby Invitational (Jan. 12-13) . . . also ran the mile that weekend, finishing just off his personal best in 4:12.60 for fifth Took 23rd in the 3,000m at the UW Invitational, running 8:13.40 . . . opened the season by running the 1,200m leg of the Boise State ‘White’ DMR at the Ed Jacoby Invitational (Jan. 12-13) . . . also ran the mile that weekend, finishing just off his personal best in 4:12.60 for fifth . . . 2016-17: CROSS COUNTRY - A consistent presence in the lineup throughout the season, racing in all five major meets…started the year at the Sagebrush Invitational (21:41.25 – 7K)…performed well at the Roy Griak Invitational with a top-25 finish, crossing the line in 25:39.1 for 24th place…was 117th at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational, clocking a 25:11.3…enjoyed a top-25 finish at the Mountain West Championships, clocking a season-best 24:44.4…a key scorer for the squad at the NCAA West Regional, clocking a 30:45.9 for 55th…concluded the season at the NCAA Championships, crossing the finish line in 31:34.6 for 190th...INDOOR – Helped the DMR team take fifth at the Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championships with a 10:14.24…also was 10th in the mile (4:23.93) that same weekend…ran a season-best 4:15.37 in the mile at the UW Invitational…clocked a 8:16.14 in the 3,000m at the Husky Classic…OUTDOOR – Competed at the NCAA West Preliminary Championships in the 1,500m, qualifying to the final in Austin, Texas…ran a 4:01.59 to take 21st…ran a 3:48.93 to take fifth at the outdoor conference championships and officially punch his ticket to regionals…also competed in the 5k at the league championships…won the 1,500m at the Border Clash thanks to a 3:47.28…recorded a season-best 14:17.10 in the 5,000m at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival…logged a 14:33.84 in the 5k at the Mt. SAC Relays.
2015-16: CROSS COUNTRY - Redshirted...INDOOR – Helped the DMR team to a school record 9:48.34 at the Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championships, gaining All-MW honors in the process…was just shy of being all conference in the mile at the conference championships, finishing fourth with a time of 4:12.43…ran the second-fastest 3,000m time in school history at the Husky Classic with a time of 7:57.98…also ran a quality 3,000m at the UW Invitational (8:00.69)…started his season at the Ed Jacoby Invite running the mile, placed fifth with a 14:14.61...OUTDOOR – A regional qualifier in the 5,000m…took ninth at the conference championships in the 5,000m, running a 14:27.80…clocked his regional qualifying time (14:01.72) to open the year at the Stanford Invitational…enjoyed his best 1,500m time of his career (3:46.78) three weeks later at the Stanford Twilight to take 19th place…also ran in the 1,500 at the Border Clash, winning the event courtesy of a 3:50.85.
2014-15: CROSS COUNTRY - (Nov. 14) Recorded an 11th-place finish at the 2014 NCAA West Regional...was the first scoring Bronco in a time of 29:50.6...earned All-Region honors...earned an individual nod to compete at NCAA Nationals...(Oct. 31) Placed 10th at the Mountain West Championships in a time of 24:14 ...earned second team All-MW honors...named Mountain West Men's Freshman of the Year...(Oct. 17) Placed 104th at the Wisconsin adidas Invitational...was the third scoring Bronco...crossed the line with a time of 24:39...(Sept. 27) Finished 32nd at the Roy Griak Invitational in a time of 25:41.5, second Bronco to cross the finish line...Finished fourth in his Bronco cross country debut at the Utah Open (Sept. 5) in 19:19.2...was the top freshman in the race by more than eight seconds…INDOORS – Redshirted…OUTDOORS – Competed in one outdoor meet, taking 23rd in the 5,000m at the Stanford Invitational with a time of 14:19.22.
HIGH SCHOOL CAREERÂ
Has already made himself known to many Bronco fans through his achievements at the highest level of prep cross country and track and field in the state of Idaho...claimed the Idaho 5A State Cross Country Championship this past year in the 5k...competed in the 2013 Nike Cross Country Northwest Regionals and placed third in a highly competitive field...In track and field, Rafla placed second in both the 1,600m and the 3,200m when he was a junior at the Idaho 5A State Track and Field Championships under the direction of Ty Axtman...claimed the 1,600m and the 3,200m state titles his senior year, including a career-best time in the 1,600m (4:10)...recipient of the Sara Shields award...intends to major in computer science engineering.
