Tim Plough joined the Boise State football staff as the Broncos’ offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Jan. 12, 2021.Â
In 2021, Plough mentored quarterback Hank Bachmeier to career-high numbers in completions (252) yards passing (3,079), touchdowns (20) and passing yards per game (256.6). Bachmeier moved up Boise State's single-season lists for attempts (ninth, 401) and completions (10th, 252) and notched his 20th-career game with at least 200 yards passing, the seventh-most in program history.
Plough cames to Boise State from his alma mater, UC Davis. He was the Aggies’ offensive coordinator from 2017-19, and became the associate head coach after UC Davis made its inaugural Football Championship Subdivision playoff appearance in 2018.

The Aggies were ranked 22nd in the FCS during the 2019 season with 433.0 yards of total offense per game. In 2018, UC Davis was third nationally in passing offense (322.8 yards per game), seventh in total offense (488.9 yards per game) and eighth in scoring offense (39.7 points per game).

That year, Plough received a 35 Under 35 award from the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA).

UC Davis led the Big Sky in offense during the 2017 campaign and set 20 school records. Quarterback Jake Maier and wide receiver Keelan Doss were each on the Walter Payton Award Watch List, the highest FCS accolade, marking the first time in school history multiple Aggies earned the honor.

From 2013-16, Plough was at Northern Arizona, where he served as the Lumberjacks’ wide receivers coach for two years and mentored four players who earned All-Big Sky status. Ify Umodo also signed a free agent contract with the Chicago Bears.

Plough spent his final two seasons in Flagstaff as the offensive coordinator. Case Cookus and receiver Emmanuel Butler were All-Americans in 2015 and Cookus earned the FCS Freshman of the Year Award that season. The Lumberjacks led the nation in passing efficiency (180.18), ranked seventh in scoring offense (39.3 points per game) and eighth in passing offense (303.2 yards per game).

After earning four letters at UC Davis (2004-07), Plough began his coaching career as a student assistant with the Aggies in 2008. He was the team’s quarterbacks coach in 2009 and the passing game coordinator from 2010-12.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in history from UC Davis in 2008 and a master’s in coaching education from Ohio in 2012.

Plough and his wife Christine have three sons, Jackson (5), Camden (2) and Bodie, who was born, Oct. 28, 2020.
