Marques White came to the Treasure Valley in 2024, joining the Broncos as the Assistant Director, Sports Performance Coach.
He made his way out west following a year at Mercer as the assistant director of football strength and conditioning where, in addition to working with the Bears’ football program, he was responsible for managing the graduate assistant and intern curriculum. He also spent the 2021 season at Mercer in a similar role, two stints that were sandwiched around a year at West Alabama as the Director of Strength and Conditioning.
White originally joined the Mercer staff in August 2021 after a stint at fellow Southern Conference program Western Carolina University, where he served as an athletic performance assistant in 2020, followed by an internship with strength staff at California.
From June 2019 until January 2020, White served as the general fitness manager for Granite Bay Fitness. Prior to that he spent five months (Feb. 2019 – June 2019) as an assistant director with the strength and conditioning staff at Susquehanna, assisting in the implementation, demonstration and training of over 20 teams, including football, hockey, soccer and lacrosse. Additionally, he ran a health and wellness boot camp for staff.
No stranger to the Mountain West, White had two intern positions across the league. The first came in summer 2018 at Fresno State where he worked with the football staff and specifically focused on the defensive line. He also assisted with swimming and men’s and women’s basketball in the Valley. Then White spent the remaining part of the 2018 calendar year at UNLV. While in Sin City, he worked directly with the football program and assisted in the implementation of injury prevention and performance enhancement programs while also creating individualized programs for freshman student-athletes.
He had a wealth of experience before entering the collegiate landscape, having also worked with EBA Pharaohs Basketball Academy (2018), Fitness Evolution (2016-17) and Athletic Performance (2015-16).
White earned his bachelor’s degree in sociology from Thomas Edison State in 2018 and then received his Master’s Degree in Applied Exercise Science in 2020 from Concordia University Chicago.
He has received certifications from CSCS-NSCA as well as a Level 1 certification from USA Weightlifting. He is also CPR/AED certified by the American Red Cross.
