B.J. Mullin joined the Boise State program in May 2023 as an offensive assistant briefly before moving over to a defensive quality control spot two months later. He currently serves as an assistant linebackers coach.

He came to the Treasure Valley after spending the 2023 spring semester at Eastern Washington as a defensive assistant. He got his start in the collegiate game as an assistant recruiting coordinator at his alma mater, Whitworth, in 2021-22 and worked as a defensive backs coach in spring 2019 at Moses Lake High School.

Mullin is a 2022 graduate of Whitworth University where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management with a minor in athletic coaching. He was a two-time team captain during his five-year playing career at Whitworth.
