An Idaho native, Justin Udy joined Boise State’s coaching staff in January 2025 as an offensive analyst/quarterbacks coaching before elevating to the tight ends coach in 2026.

In 2025, Boise State generated over 500 yards of offense five times, the most in a single season since 2018. The Broncos had three passing games with over 300 yards and were one of five schools across the country with multiple players throwing for over 300 yards in a single game.

Prior to Boise State, Udy coached for five seasons (2020-24) at Montana State. He was the wide receivers coach and special teams coordinator for the final three seasons and helped Montana State reach the FCS Playoffs four times, including finishing as the national runner-up in 2021.

Udy was the offensive quality control coach/quarterbacks at Texas Tech in 2019 and the defensive administrative assistant/linebackers at Utah State in 2018, with both stints being under head coach Matt Wells. The Red Raiders were ranked seventh nationally in passing yards per game in 2019.

Before Utah State, Udy spent three seasons at South Dakota School of Mines (2015-17) as the assistant head coach/offensive coordinator/wide receivers coach, and he started his coaching career at Eastern Oregon (2012-14). During his time at his alma mater, he was the assistant head coach/special teams coordinator/wide receivers coach and tutored All-American Jace Billingsley, who played in the NFL for the Detroit Lions and New England Patriots.

Udy began his collegiate playing career as a quarterback at Eastern Oregon before moving to wide receiver for his final two seasons (2010-11). He was a three-sport standout at Genessee High School, earning Class 1A Idaho State Player of the Year honors in 2006.

Udy, who earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Eastern Oregon, is married to his wife Shannon and they have a son.
