Troy Merritt
- Induction:
- 2024
All-American and Western Athletic Conference Champion
The first All-American in program history, Troy Merritt rewrote the record book in his two seasons at Boise State after transferring from Division II Winona State.Â
Merritt won the 2008 WAC individual title with a 7-under 209, and went on to compete as an individual at an NCAA Regional and earned second-team All-America honors – the highest by any Boise State men's golfer, past and present.Â
His 69.53 scoring average and seven individual medalist honors that season landed him on the inaugural All-Nicklaus Team that spring – which honors outstanding players from NCAA Division I, II, III and NAIA. Merritt still holds school records for career scoring average (70.74) and single-season scoring average (69.53, 2008), while his nine-career victories and 15 top-10 finishes rank second behind fellow Boise State Hall of Famer, Graham DeLaet.Â
The Osage, Iowa, native was a two-time first-team All-WAC selection in his career and was the 2008 WAC Golfer of the Year.
