Eight Tough Games, With Crew of Green Men, Is Problem of Max Eiden

BOISE, Idaho – Eight games and a crew of green material are a tough combination to scramble and come out with a set of victories, Max Eiden, coach of Boise Junior College, complained Thursday as he hoped for more football players on the Bronco squad before he starts practice September 18.

"Games will be plenty," said Eiden. "We've got more good games than we know what to do with. The men who will play them are an indefinite quantity. The best I can see is a scant handful of sophomores and a mess of freshmen. The season is going to be plenty tough.

Meet Coyotes Early

To begin with the College of Idaho comes to Boise September 28, 10 days after practice begins. Southern Branch will be met at Pocatello about the middle of November. Other games booked but not sifted down to dates yet include: Ricks' College at Rexburg, Oregon Normal at Boise, Albion at Boise, Gooding College at Boise, Lewiston Normal at Lewiston, and Idaho or Gonzaga University Freshmen at Boise.

The backfield looms up as not so ragged and green as the line, Eiden declared. For quarterbacks he has Shaw and Shelton of Boise and Cantlin of Filer, who may be shifted to half. Gus Urresti is back for fullback duty and Stoddard of Caldwell and Nalley of Coeur d'Alene are available from the 1934 Bronco squad at half back positions.

Two Line Veterans

Bugs Morgan of Nampa, center, and Weber of Parma, tackle, are the only two veterans fairly definite for the line. Joy and Orbea, ends, are out of the picture. Walt Rigney, captain and tackle, has set his sites for the University of Idaho. Lippa of Kellogg, an end, and Borup of Emmett, center, may return to the fold. Barton of Filer, a guard, is another prospect that may develop. He played last fall.

"With a line averaging 160 points and a backfield close to 170 it will be a mighty light team for a junior college," Eiden said. "And that schedule. There isn't a soft spot on it. But I will say the boys are always a bunch of good scrappers. They'll put up a darned good fight.
