BOISE STATE UNVEILS NEW ATHLETIC WEB SITE

            BOISE, Idaho The name will remain the same, www.broncosports.com, but the look is different as Boise State University unveils a complete new look to its athletic department web site today (Wednesday, August 9) at Noon.

            Boise State has entered into a partnership with XOS Technologies in the area of web publishing and site design.  XOS, a Sanford, Florida, based web-hosting company, is a leader in the technology industry and will provide the platform for www.broncosports.com.  The Network Group, a Boise based company, has been the Broncos’ web site provider the past five years.

            “One of the key windows for Bronco athletics to reach fans, donors, alumni and prospective student-athletes is through our web site,” Gene Bleymaier, Boise State Director of Athletics stated.  “Our new site combines an updated and cutting edge graphic design look with interactive fan features that will bring our site visitors closer than ever to the Broncos.”

            While the same type of information, live statistics and photos regarding Broncos athletics will once be available, the web site will now include new audio and video capabilities, an online auction site similar to eBay and greater ease for online purchasing of Bronco merchandise.

            By becoming a Bronco Vision premium subscription member, Boise State fans will receive access to live games, past games, seasonal highlights, special features and interviews that can only be seen by paying the monthly price of $9.95 per month, or $69.95 per year.  Bronco Vision members will need a high speed internet connection.

            Boise State football games scheduled to be broadcast live this year on Bronco Vision include Sacramento State (Aug .31), Hawai’i (Sept. 23), Louisiana Tech (Oct. 7), Idaho (Oct. 21), San Jose State (Nov. 11) and Utah State (Nov. 18).  Due to national and regional television broadcast restrictions, Bronco games against Oregon State (Sept. 7), Wyoming (Sept. 16), Utah (Sept. 30), New Mexico State (Oct. 15), Fresno State (Nov. 1) and Nevada (Nov. 25) will not be available live on Bronco Vision.

            The premium subscription service will guarantee anyone wishing to watch a Bronco game on www.broncosports.com will be able to see the broadcast.  Because the video service was free last year, only 400 connections were able to be made at one time.  The subscription service will also allow you to access XOS’s 24 hour customer service center if you are having difficulties connecting the live games.

            All home men and women’s basketball games, and selected home Bronco events will be seen live on Bronco Vision.  The audio for the football and men’s basketball games will be provided by KBOI radio.  Audio for women’s basketball games will be provided by KBSU radio.

            The online auctions will be updated on a weekly basis.  Among the items available the first week will include a football autographed by the 2006 freshmen class, a mini helmet autographed by head football coach Chris Petersen.

            Boise State joins a growing number of schools which have their web sites hosted by XOS.  Among those schools are the University of Arizona, Duke University, the University of Georgia, LSU, the University of Nebraska, the University of Oklahoma and the University of Oregon. 

            XOS is currently designing a new web site for the Western Athletic Conference (WAC).  WAC schools currently with their web sites on XOS include San Jose State University and New Mexico State University.
