HONOLULU, Hawaii - The Boise State University men’s golfer Troy Merritt remains tied for second place after shooting a 4-under 69 Tuesday, Nov. 6, at the Turtle Bay Invitational.

The tournament shifted courses during the second day of competition but it did not deter Merritt who followed up his season-low 64 (-8) in the first round with a 69 (-4) on the longer par 73, 7,218-yard course. Merritt was just one of three Boise State golfers which registered a score under par.

Matt Hastings posted his second consecutive round under-par as he fired a 1-under 72 in the second round after shooting a 68 (-4) to open the tournament. Even with the round under-par Hastings slipped in the individual standings from 24th into a tie for 32nd.

John Baranco followed up his even-par 72 in the opening round with a 4-under 69 in the second to stand tied for 37th with one round remaining. Baranco’s 69 (-4) matched Merritt for the low round score of the day.

As a team the Broncos are tied for 12th with a 14-under par 570.

The final round of the Turtle Bay Invitational will be held Nov. 7, beginning at 7:20 (HT).
