BRONCO WRESTLERS WIN TWO MORE MATCHES ON SUNDAY

BOISE, Idaho Boise State University’s wrestling team followed up its opening season 38-3 win over the University of Northern Colorado on Saturday (Nov. 1) with two more dominating performances on Sunday (Nov. 2) as the Broncos handed Montana State University-Northern a 38-9 loss, and the University of Great Falls a 35-7 defeat.
Ranked No. 13 in the preseason rankings from W.I.N. Magazine, the Broncos won eight of 10 matches against both MSU-Northern and Great Falls.
Andrew Hochstrasser (133 pounds), Eli Hutchison (141), Adam Hall (157) and Kirk Smith (184) were the only Boise State wrestlers to win both of their matches on Sunday. All four also won their matches on Saturday against Northern Colorado to run their early season records to 3-0.
Boise State won three matches by pin on Sunday. Tyler Sherfey won by fall at the 2:17 mark of his 165-pound match with Colter Dimas for MSU-Northern, Brian Owen did the same at the 1:03 mark of his match at 125 pounds against Kyle MIddlemist of Great Falls, and Kurt Swartz pined Jacob Butenhoff of Great Falls at the 2:28 mark of his match at 165 pounds.
The Broncos have a two-week break before returning competition at the Cowboy Open in Laramie, Wyo., Nov. 15 (Saturday).
