Athlete of the Week 12/7-13: Jessica Van Hoogen

BOISE, Idaho – Senior Jessica Van Hoogen has earned this week’s Bronco Athlete of the Week honors with 43 points on the week, including season-high 26 against Montana State. Van Hoogen has scored 15+ points in each of the last five games.
The senior from Temecula, Calif. led the Broncos to a 74-68 victory over Montana State with her 26 points. Van Hoogen shot 10-of-15 and 4-of-5 beyond the arc as the Broncos never trailed to the Bobcats. In the Broncos loss at St. Mary’s, Van Hoogen narrowly missed a double-double as she put up 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds before fouling out late in the game. She now leads the Broncos with four 20-point games this season.
The Broncos return home to take on Santa Clara on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the first game of a doubleheader at Taco Bell Arena. The men’s basketball team will host Houston Baptist at 3:15 p.m. in the second game of the doubleheader. Every fan that buys a ticket before halftime of the women’s game will receive free admission to the men’s game.
The wrestling team will also return to action next week in the Reno Tournament of Champions in Reno, Nev. on Sunday.
