Andrew Hochstrasser (133 pounds), Adam Hall (157), Tyler Sherfey (165), Nate Lee (174), Kirk Smith (184) and Brent Chriswell (197) all received No. 1 seeds.
Jason Chamberlain is seeded No. 2 at 149 pounds, Cory Fish is No. 3 at 141 pounds, Sam Zylstra is fourth at heavyweight and Brian Owen is No. 7 at 125 pounds.
Eight of the 10 Bronco wrestlers received byes into the quarterfinal round.
Smith, ranked No.4 in the country with a 32-1 record, will face unseeded Brady Garner of
Competition begins Sunday at 11:00 a.m. (PT) on the Cal State Fullerton campus.
Hochstrasser, ranked No. 4 with a record of 28-2, will face David Prado of
Ranked No. 6 with a 30-3 season mark, Hall will take on the winner of the first round match between Sam Barnhart of Cal State Bakersfield and
Sherfey, ranked No. 18 with a 23-8 record, will take on Joel Shaw of Cal Poly in the quarterfinals. Sherfey handed a Shaw a 12-3 major decision loss earlier this season.
The defending champion at 174 pounds, Lee will face Ryan DesRoches of Cal Poly in his quarterfinal match. Lee, ranked No. 13 with a 15-3 mark, had a close match with DesRoches earlier this season posting a 6-5 win.
Chriswell won the 184 pounds title at last year’s league tournament when he competed for
Fish is also a defending Pac-10 Champion. Last year he won the 133 pound weight class before moving up a division this year. Ranked 24 with a 17-7 record, Fish will take on Garrett Drucker of
Zylstra and Owen will both face wrestlers from UC Davis in their quarterfinal matches. Zylstra will take on Ricardo Alcala and Owen will face No. 2 seed Marcos Orozco.
Following the quarterfinals Sunday morning, the semifinals will start at 6:00 p.m. (PT) on Sunday, with the championship session beginning at 7:00 p.m. (PT) on Monday (March 2).
