Broncos Drop North Idaho College 33-12

SPOKANE, Wash.  - The No. 2 ranked Boise State wrestling team cruised to its first win of the fall, Saturday (Nov. 6) night, as the Broncos (1-0 overall, 0-0 Pac-10 Conference) took down North Idaho College (2-1) 33-12 in their season opener at Mead High School in Spokane, Wash.

Boise State won the first seven matches of the dual to take a commanding 33-0 lead, before finally surrendering points with a forfeit at 184 pounds. Alan Bartelli scored the first Bronco victory of the night at 125 pounds as he pinned Kyle McCrite at the 4:51 mark. Andrew Hochstrasser extended the Boise State lead next at 133 pounds with a 17-0 technical fall against Brock Banta.

Levi Jones would score the next win of the night for the Broncos with a 10-5 decision over Branden Mowery at 141. In the 149-pound match Jason Chamberlain recorded the second win by fall of the dual as he pinned Mckray Jones at 4:28.

Michael Cuthbertson and Jake Swartz would each earn wins by major decision in Boise State's final two victories of the night to push the team score to 33-0. Cuthbertson beat Jake Mason, 12-4, at 165 pounds while Swartz took down Jess Nielsen, 12-3, at 174.

Following the Boise State forfeit at 184 pounds, NIC would record a pair of wins by decision at 197 and heavyweight to bring the final team score to 33-12.

The Broncos return home this week for one of the most anticipated duals of the regular season when Pac-10 Conference rival Oregon State travels to Boise on Saturday, Nov. 13. Boise State will host the Beavers at 9 p.m. in Taco Bell Arena.
