Wrestling to Take on No. 21 Oregon State

CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Boise State wrestling team will take on Pac-12 rival, No. 21 Oregon State Sunday (Nov. 20). Action is slated to begin at Gill Coliseum at 2 p.m. MT. The matchup will be the Broncos' first duel meet of the season. Live stats will be available HERE.
While the some of the Bronco squad will take on Oregon State, others will be testing their skill at the Spokane Open in Liberty Lake, Wash. Jake Briggs (141), Ben Demuelle (133), Cody Dixon (174), Steven Hernandez (149), Preston Hu (133) and Alec Robbie (149) will each compete in this event.

Scouting the Competition - Oregon State enters the weekend as the No. 21 team in the country after finishing 21st at the NCAA Tournament last season. The Beavers currently have three members of their projected lineup with rankings in Intermat's top 25. Mike Mangrum holds the No. 5 spot at 133 pounds while Clayton Jack is ranked eighth at 285 and Scott Sakaguchi ranks 10th at 133 pounds.
Among the Elite - In the latest Intermat rankings, Jake Swartz was picked as the 12th-best wrestler in the nation at the 184pound division. The redshirt sophomore was an at-large selection to the NCAA tournament last year.
Fellow sophomore J.T. Felix holds the No.18 position at the 285-pound weight class. Felix finished second at the Pac-10 Championships last year and was an automatic qualifier to the NCAA tournament where he went 1-2.
What Happened Last Week - The Broncos opened the season at the Cowboy Open in Laramie, Wyo., where they had two competitors win their Elite Bracket in addition to four top-three finishes. George Ivanov and J.T. Felix won the 157 and 285 divisions respectively, while Josh Strait (141) and Jake Swartz (184) each notched runner-up finishes. Shawn Jones (133) and Nick Wooden (149) each finished third.
2011-12 Squad - This season's team is loaded with new talent as 12 true freshman make up Boise State's 29 roster spots. The Broncos also welcome sophomore Cody Dixon and junior transfer George Ivanov make 14 newcomers to the program. The Orange and Blue also return four redshirt freshman this year, which gives a total of 18 student-athletes the opportunity to wrestle in their first official match as a member of the Bronco squad this season.
Randall at the Helm - Head coach Greg Randall is entering his 10th season at Boise State with a 98-32-1 record. Under Randall, the Broncos have notched four Pac-10 titles and six top-25 finishes at the NCAA tournament.
