Spiewak Wins Boise City Championship

BOISE, Idaho (7/25/2011) - Boise State University senior-to-be Scott Spiewak won the Boise City men's golf championship this past weekend at Warm Springs Golf Course. He won the tournament by four strokes carding a 7-under-par 137 to out distance Matthew Rippy who shot 141 (-3) to finish second. The Prescott, Ariz., native recorded scores of 5-under-par 67 on the first round, then followed up with a 2-under 70 on the final 18 holes.

Spiewak is coming off a junior season this past year where he competed in all 10 tournaments for the Broncos averaging a team second-best 75.7 strokes per round.  The transfer from South Mountain Community College in Arizona recorded two top-15 finishes and led the team in rounds counted with 24.5 of 28 (84.5 pct.) going towards the team score.
