Broncos Set Academic Records in 2011-12

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State University student-athletes recorded the highest all-sport grade-point average on record for a semester this past spring, combining for a 3.00.
Sixty-five percent of Bronco student-athletes were above a 3.0 GPA, the highest in a semester for the department. Additionally, the 2012 spring semester marked the 10th-straight with the athletic department’s cumulative GPA above 3.0.
The Broncos’ women’s golf team set the department record with the highest single-semester GPA, combining for a 3.68, and the women’s tennis team recorded the highest cumulative GPA of any sport on record, combining for a 3.54.
Football, softball, volleyball, women’s golf, women’s tennis and wrestling each set team GPA records during the spring, either for the semester or cumulative.
In the last year, more than 140 Bronco student-athletes earned their respective degrees.
Nate Potter (football) and Jake Swartz (wrestling) were each named Academic All-Americans in 2011-12, while Potter, Tyler Shoemaker (football) and Amanda Burnett (swimming and diving) each earned academic all-district honors.
For the second-straight year, the Bronco football team recorded the second-highest academic score of schools competing in bowl games according to the Higher Ed Watch’s academic report.
